Care story
From making pickles, to preserving Central Park, to making trips up the Hudson to enjoy the view, KC keeps Michael on his toes.
In the case of my neighbor, the example shared illustrates a task as simple as helping her purchase a much-needed piece of furniture. But her needs expanded to transport to medical appointments and therapies, bathing and dressing, running errands, grocery shopping, light housekeeping, management of medications, and eventually around-the-clock in-home care while she was with Hospice. It was a privilege to serve her.
Over the years, I’ve cared for others. There was a range of need. I loved caring for them all whether they were diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, a survivor of Guillain-Barre Syndrom, on Hospice care, or needed companionship and help with daily living because they were approaching their centennial birthday.
It became clear that caring for aging adults who need love and support is my calling. Though I’ve thrived on entrepreneurial opportunities over time, this work is the crown jewel where I want to focus my skills and energies on behalf of others
From early childhood I greatly appreciated and honored the senior members of my family. As years passed, some of them battled illness, including cancer. It was a privilege to support and care for them in a variety of ways. As my profession took me to other parts of the world, I realized the great value of having my loved ones receive consistent, compassionate daily care.
Family is my top priority. I want my two young sons to grow up knowing that their father is caring for aging adults like family, with dedication, skill and compassion. We live in a world that needs to honor and support aging adults as their physical and emotional needs increase along with their wisdom. They deserve excellent service and care that safely preserves their dignity and independence. I’m on a mission to do just that while raising the next generation to follow my lead.
